LONDON — The Royal Navy in Britain has been monitoring Russian warships within the North Sea and has escorted one vessel skirting British waters, the Defense Ministry in London stated on Tuesday, amid heightened tensions between the 2 nations.

The Defense Ministry stated in a press release that it had famous an “upsurge” in Russian vessels within the area over the previous few days, and that it despatched the frigate St. Albans to escort the Russian warship Admiral Gorshkov by the North Sea because it neared British waters.
