Novak Djokovic on the road to recovery after treatment to elbow injury
Former world No 1 Novak Djokovic has had a “small medical intervention” on his troublesome elbow and says he’s now on a “good road to full recovery”.
The 30-year-old Serbian final month suffered a recurrence of his elbow issues in a fourth-round loss to 21-year-old South Korean Chung Hyeon at the Australian Open.
He posted on Instagram late on Friday night: “Hey guys, I owe you some information about my recovery. I’ve been carrying this injury for the previous two years, and through this time I’ve been seeing many docs.
“Truth be advised, there have been many alternative opinions, completely different diagnoses, completely different strategies… It was not straightforward for me to select which approach to go and what to do.
“I took 6 months off final season hoping to come again totally recovered, however sadly I nonetheless felt ache. I actually missed competing, it’s in my blood and I had to give it a strive on AO.
“Anyhow, I agreed with my crew that I might strive completely different strategies after I end in Australia and some days in the past I accepted to do a small medical intervention on my elbow.
“It looks as if I’m on the good road now to full recovery. It’s fairly a journey this one, I’ve to say. I’m studying rather a lot and for that I’m grateful.
